  2. I know FFmpeg can do it but I'm too old and untech savvy to deal with anything having to do with DOS. I'll try the one you suggested. I hope it's easier. Thanks!

    I have tried a lot of options and the one that is the most customizable and works best for me is Xmedia Recode. It's free and you can find it here: https://www.xmedia-recode.de/en/

  4. Thanks for getting back to me on this question. I have downloaded and started to use Handbrake to convert AC3 to AAC video files without losing subtitles. It's slow but works really well. Thanks anyway for your suggestion.

    Xmedia Recode is not slow and it doesn't touch the video at all unless you choose. You can also add multiple audio files. Myself, I take 5.1 as or master audio 5.1 and re-encode to one stereo track and another in 5.1 both AAC. The result is a smaller file than the original usually but with 2 audio tracks. You can also import external subtitles into a container.
