  1. 2520 VBR 480-576 PAL High quality takes 20 hours!!!

    Got a PIII-500-256MB & Fast HDD.

Yeah...maybe I should change the CPU & mainboard.

Any suggestions? AMD-P4? Does the encoding really goes a lot faster?

  2. Yep 20 hours is normal with that system and VBR. Got the same system and time. CBR will speed it up a little, and CinemaCraftEncoder will make it run in about 10 hours.

Yes there will be a huge difference, when you change your CPU, mainboard and memory.( I suppose that you'll buy DDram, when you change to AMD-XP or P4, as SDram will become a bottleneck on such a system)

I have an Athlon 1.4 Gigaherz, 256 DDram (FSB 266) and a motherboard with AMD 760 chip.

SVCD encoding using DVD2SVCD (so, it's encoded by CCE)can be done very fast. A 1 pass SVCD of a 90 minutes movie, takes about 4 hours.

I wonder what will happen when I upgrade to an Athlon XP 1900+? I only have to change the CPU, and that would not be the case when I had an Intell........

  6. Encoding to SVCD 480x480, 2496 bitrate, High Quality, 4:3 NTSC...
It takes about 3.5 times the .avi file length on my AthlonXP 1.39Ghz wih 256Mhz DDR Ram. (10 minute .avi takes 35 minutes to encode).
