I was wondering what program you guys use to transfer file between 2 computers that are in seperate houses. I want to be able to send home videos of my kids to my parents computer without having to burn them to a CD. The files range from 75mb to about 400mb or so. My parents only live a few houses down the street.
Thanks

ICQ
is good to use if both pc's have cable modem., if dialup then forget it cuz the file transfer will take too long.

True, most IM clients have some file transfer built in. Probably safer than setting up FTP if it's just going to be for the fam.

Well we both have cable modems. I tried MSN messenger (I think) and it was only transfering around 5k max. I ended up cancelling after an hour or so

I can't remember if XP has a built in FTP server.

I'd check out download.com and do a search for "ftp server". There are some free ones. I don't have any experience with them so I can't recommend one. If it's something you plan to do on a regular basis and you want security and ease of use, I hear good things about CuteFTP products.

SmartFTP is a good one.
