  1. I am using Dual 1.42 G4 with 2gig Ram, 10.3.5. I am able to backup DVD with DVDbackup without much problem. But about 2 months now, DVDBackup produce quite a bit of video distortion ( like pixelated) even old movies that have less thatn 4.4 gigs. I would appreciate any suggestion. thanks

Are you sure it's DVDBackup introducing the distortion, and not some cheap or crappy DVD-R media you're burning to?

  6. I usually using 4x-8x Ritex/ with Pionner 107
Back up the original DVD with DVDbackup. Obtain an VideoTS file (This file is the one with video distortion). then using DVD2onex to compress to 4.4gig and toast 6 to burn.

Just create a udf image of the VIDEO_TS folder and mount it with Disk Utility, I just tried it and MTR 2 recognizes it.

  9. Yes, I watch VideoTS in apple player to made sure it ok before use DVD2one to compress and burn it. I have problem with Van Helsing, Day after tommorrow, man on Fire, and few other older DVD movies . It only cause 2-3 episode of few second of video distortion per movies. It did not happen this consistent before two months ago. thanks

It may be a problem with your drive. Are you using hacked firmware? Maybe the error handling code is messed up, or the lens is just dirty. You might try ripping with another drive, or on another computer if possible...

Hmm, I did ManOnFire, using MTR 2.01,
watched was ok. Used DVD2OneX 1.4 to
master in full disc copy mode,
    and burned to tdk2x media.
    Worked great, played fine.

Will test Van Helsing, since I just got it sat.,
    and post back.

some say to use those CD cleaners with the special disc that has the brush on it. Others says not to use that because it can damage the lens. I've also heard you can use those "Air in a can" dusters to clean it out, but if you do that, I've read you need to open up the drive case (warranty void) to let the components dry out because some canned air can leave a residue.

If you get one of the brush cleaner discs, be sure to get one for DVD drives, as the lenses are different. Don't do it with a CD lens cleaner. If your other movies are ripping ok, you might be fine. I hope MTR works well for you.
