Hi - I am fairly new to all this but just have a couple of questions.
Firstly, Some VCDs work on my DVD player and others don't. Having done some research I have discovered that this is down to the make/type of disc. Having ordered ones that I know work, is it just a case of doing an 'on the fly' copy, or do you have to copy the MPEG / .dat file into the VCD template (using nero)- or is it something more complicated than this.
Scondly, I notice that some 700mb discs hold more than this capacity. When I try to copy these discs, I am told that the files will not fit. How do I copy these larger files onto a 700mb disc using nero?
Many thanks
Jamie

I use Clone CD to copy all CD's including VCD's
VCD's are written in a different way than normal CD's so you can get an mpeg upto 800 mb to fit on an 80 min disc.
With Nero you need to make a VCD and add a dat(an mpeg file with a bit extra added)or mpeg. You wont be able to write an 800mb file as data on one disc.
If the mpeg is VCD compliant (see VCD) you can fit about 80 mins on an 80 min CD-R. -
As what MicoMan said.
VCDs are still just information on ordinary CD media so you can copy them with any DAO copying proggy (e.g., the CD copying functions in Nero, CDRWin, Clone CD, etc.)
The best (and easiest) way to copy a VCD is to do a simple DAO copy.
Copying the DAT file and reauthoring your VCD with Nero should be your last option ONLY.
