At my first DVD ripping attempt, i've had no major problem, but I was trying to add subtitles, so I used VirtualDub with the VobSub plugin, it all went fine and the subs appear in place, but I would like to frameserve from VirtualDub to TMPGEnc to create the .MPG right away, but I can't get TMPGEnc to recognize the .vdr file as a valid file, i even tried renaming it to .avi.

The only solution I found was to compress the avi as DivX first (with the subtitles, in VirtualDub), and then open the new file in TMPGEnc. Still I would like to avoid this step, so if anyone can help me out... that would be great.

  2. Here's what happens for me... when I frameserve, I save the vdr file as file.vdr.avi and then when I load it into TMPGEnc, it crashes, so I Ctrl Atl Delete and close it, then when I reopen it it reads the file.vdr.avi file fine.

If you're having problems, make sure you have the newest version of each program. Otherwise, don't know what to tell you.

I use filename.vdr and my frameserving loads up just fine in TMPGEnc. Check your priority settings in TMPGEnc under OPTIONS --> Environmental Settings --> VFAPI Plug-in. Some say the OpenDML or some other one has to be highest. I didn't need to change anything myself.

sorry to insist, but I can't get through this problem.

I tried renaming the file... TMPGEnc doesn't crash it just wont recognize the .vdr file as a supported format. I also moved around all VFAPI plugins priorities... I am using VirtualDub 1.4.8 and TMPGEnc 2.01 something, but I get the impression versions are not really the problem... is there a specific VFAPI plugin I should have? PLEASE any help is welcome.

    eltopo,

I don't know if this will help, but this is what shows up in tmp older versions, and
I just keep them in the same order (give or take a few) in each version, up to
    and encluding v2.50

In Virtualdub, don't forget to click/do:

then after you see this, click its start button below and give it a name
I give my frameserve name "01.vdr" all the time:

then, you should now see this (leave it open - dont close it)

Now, in tmpg, make sure your (options/environment/VFAPI plugins) are set:

THEN, go and proceed to Browse your 01.vdr file for the video and audio
and then proceed to encode, via frameserving!!

I can't paint an pretty enough picture this this for ya!
