Hey all,
Long time reader, first time poster...I've been using a Pinnacle AV/DV Pro card to capture old LD movies to convert to DVD+R/DL here, along with Nero Express 6 (Ultra) and I've had great success.
While I wait to save up the cash to get a program that will let me do multiple audio streams (some of my disks have director commentary etc. on them I'd like to preserve), I was poking around with another file I had, and I had some questions about it.
At any rate: the file (apparently) has it's audio recorded in AC3. I can see the movie no problem, however, when I play it back in WMP there's no audio at all. When I start Nero ShowTime and try to view the file, a dialog box opens which informs me:
"Due to patent restrictions, Dolby Digital 2-Channel Decoding is not available. This feature can be added by installing the DVD-Video Plug-in, the Nero 6 Ultra Edition retail package, or the Web version."
Then there's a series of links for me to buy the DVD-Video Plug in.
Now, the interesting thing is ... I already have that plugin. So now I'm confused - I just want to know why I can't hear the audio...

Showtime gives me that sh-t too. Try using a different player. I find Media Player Classic a great choice.

Thanks for the pointers, guys(gals?
). One final question: when I want to put the file (well, files - there's a pair of them), will Nero handle the audio properly or will I wind up hearing nothing?
