  1. When I am trying to Encode an .AVI file to .MPEG-2 using TMPGENC I am getting blocks around the faster moving parts of the screen. I have used the Super Video-CD (NTSC) template that came with TMPGENC and have been tweaking the variables according to some other postings I have found. I still am sitting at Square 1 because the blocks are still in the video.

I looked up the properties of the AVI file and here they are

Audio Format: DivX WMA Audio V2, 64 Kps, 44Khz, stereo
    Video Format: 352x240, 24 Bits, 75160 Frames, 29.970 Frames/sec, 46 Kb/Sec, DivX Codec.

I have installed the latest DivX codec version 4.12 and have tried numerous other encoders like AVI2VCD.

Does anyone have any help on this?

    THank you

It's Probably your source since it Divx which is a whole lot more compressed than mpeg1 or 2. If you play your source you will probably see defects around the fastmotion scenes. Also when you convert divx to mpeg it also brings it out more.
