    Quality of VCD created by using Sony's DVGate to convert DV to mpeg is not very good. Is there any way to improve the quality before the VCD is burned. If not, I guess I have to look into SVCD. Also anyone know if DVGate can convert to mpeg2 ?

    Use dvgate to create an avi then convert to mpeg 1-2 with tmpgenc.

    dvgate mpeg-2 conversion? Download and install the mpeg-2 codec located in the tools section of this site. This enabled the mpeg-2 of dvgate version 2.2 on my vaio 260.
