I have a HP Pavillon 304w computer with XP and 384 megs of RAM. I have a LG 4120B burner, which works fine till I try to install a second burner, the factory CD burner, and Nero express. I am trying to replace the CD burner with a Toshiba SD-R5112 DVD burner. I installed it and windows finds it, but when I go to copy a DVD in either drive it reads the disc I put in to copy and then the computer freezes up and I have to shut it down by holding the power button. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get them both to work? If so please explain in laymans terms since I'm pretty new to burning.

I wouldn't suggest you set both drives to cable select. To use cable select a special IDE cable has to be used in that jumper setting & your hard drives would have to be set on cable select as well. As already pointed out make sure the jumpers on each drive are set correctly. Put the LG as master and Toshiba as slave. Make sure the drives are being recognized in your BIOS.Sounds like both are set to slave or master. Set both to cable select.

I will have to check the BIOS, but the LG is set to master and the Toshiba to slave.
