What OS are you running? Sometimes XP hides inactive tray icons.

Open Task Manager and look for NAVAPW32.EXE under Processes. If you see it, Norton is still running.

Congratulations, you've just bested Norton bloat-ware

Could just be a glitch. I had a crash during an auto-update that caused exactly that. Reinstalled it and downloaded the updates again and it worked fine. Just make sure to try uninstalling it first. You may also try to repair it if given the choice.

As an example, Kerio Personal Firewall does not automatically start up if you closed it. Run the program again like somebody else said.

i only have navapsvc in my task manager

i tried to run Nortor 2004 click on Enable Auto Protect so the auto protect icon in my systray will comeback...but it cannot be Enabled. i keep on clicking but my autoprotect stay in OFF status.

i didn't use auto update. i manually download my virus defenition using download accelerator and run the updater. faster for me.

this happened to me in the past. reinstalling norton seems to fix the problem. now it happened again. im tired of reinstalling the damn antivirus....i was hoping others could suggest other solution.

this usually happen when dllhost.exe appear in my task manager. is this file a virus? i tried to end the task but it keeps on coming back.
