Check back redited post (to make it clearer).

Appreciate the work you have done. The image(s) you posted is just one big blur. Hardly suitable example to judge the results.

things like waterfalls , heavy rolling/blowing fog/smoke, fire/explosions and other such type very fast moving massive particle effects are the worse thing to throw to a mpeg encoder ...

just about all of them will choke at dvd bit rates if you look at it frame by frame - but in the whole scheme , can look alright ...

the downside is, of course, all the above WILL look like a blur because that is what they are ....

The idea is clear but there"s more to the picture quality then what can be inferred from submitted frames.

  6. d_unbeliever: I like to throw in my comment on the speed-thing... I sometimes frameserve with virtualdub-mpeg2, and its slow compared to AviSynth, so you lose the advantage of faster encoding. The Levels function in avisynth is compatible with virtualdub Levels, so just transfer the numbers from virtualdubs Levels into the avisynth script to speed up. My experience is however that also avisynths Levels is kinda slow, so it will not help very much, but im sure you'll notice the difference. Also, Levels is different from brightness/contrast, so maybe you will not like it anyway.
