I prefer the Record Now Max 4.5, I bought my version at Officemax on clearance for 15.00. Not sure about any other versions. Sorry
-
Sonic bought it out from Stomp.
Stomp bought it out from somebody before that.
I think it was Prassi before that (seeing how they both use PX engines).
The RECORDNOW MAX (made by STOMP) is the one I prefer.
Looks and feels just like PRASSI.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Just downloaded the demo of RecordNowMax from Sonic. And it appears to only burn at 1x to my DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs, yet the media is 4x rated. I have a LG4120B which is rated at 12x with appropriate media.
Is it only burning at 1x because it is a demo ? -
I prefer the Veritas RecordNow DX 4.6
Under image select it already has ISO as a file type in the bunch. As I recall Stomps and Sonics didn't have ISO. You had to change the drop down to all files to see an ISO file. -
No. It has GI as the default option. You can just select ISO/BIN/etc as the filetype. I just burned about 30 ISO images this past weekend in RNM.Originally Posted by dmagic1Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

And the older version of RNM supports the faster 8x & 12x DVD burners ?
What is the going price for RNM ? Can you still purchase ver 4.x ? Or should I go with the current version of 7.2 ? -
You should go with RecordNow 7.2, as it supports the latest burners. Also, unlike RecordNow Max, version 7.2 also supports DVD+R Double-Layer burning and is currectly the best and smartest burning software for DL. If needed I can prove it.Originally Posted by kenmo

I see Sonic has three flavours, Record Now, Record Now Deluxe, Record Now Seluxe Suite...
What is the difference between them....????

As long as you keep your PXengine updated, older RNM versions can use the newer burners. Although that may only apply to SL, not DL.Originally Posted by Edmund BlackadderWant my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Actually, that is only partially true. My original RecordNow DX that came with Sony DRX-500ULX also supports Sony DRU-700A through "Silent Detect", but once I tried updating the PX Engine, DRU-700A completely disappeared from RecordNow DX window. However I tried that with some other CD/DVD burners and it worked fine. I had to go to Windows directory to remove the new PX files and then reinstalled RecordNow DX to get back the support for DRU-700A. Also when I installed RecordNow 7.2, DRU-700A once again was removed from RecordNow DX window. So now, on my dual-boot system, I use the original PX from RecordNow DX on Windows 98SE and the new RecordNow 7.2 PX Engine in Windows XP, mainly for Double-Layer burning. And yes, older versions will not support DL burning, even with the newest engine.Originally Posted by lordsmurf
Sonic pretty much has a good product comparison on their site. With RecordNow you don't get some in-program options as with Deluxe, while with Suite you get more software, like DLA and something else, which you don't really need if you're only into DVD-Video burning.Originally Posted by kenmo -
Get RecordNow Max v4.5,it has more CD & DVD options such as:up to 64 recorders.
The Sonic RN v7.2 GUI looks like it was designed by Fisher-Price but for DL burning get it. -
Those of you that want to stick to version 4.5-4.6 and have real drive speeds(not Max,Mid,Min) for your newer burners may want to peep my topic here.

Can you have both the older version and newer version of RecordNowMax installed on your PC without any problems ?
Howw about RecordNowMax and Nero, can they peacefully co-exist ? -
1.No,the newer version will uninstall the older version.Originally Posted by kenmo
2.Yes,I have Nero 5.5 and RNM v4.5. -
1. Probably not true. On my WinXP Pro OS I have both RecordNow DX and RecordNow 7.2 installed, and they both work as usual and peacefully coexist. The only thing that is different is that now RecordNow DX is using the 7.2's PX engine. Perhaps it's different in the case of RecordNow MaxOriginally Posted by MOVIEGEEK
2. Correct, RecordNow and Nero have no problems with each other. -
They use the same px engine so the newest one over writes the older px engine. If your using a dual layer burner it will probably not appear in 4.5 or 4.6 after installing 7.2Originally Posted by Edmund Blackadder
