  1. I'm a pretty noob video editor. Been using Windows Movie Maker for the past year, and it's done what I've needed it to do, but I'm ready to make the next step. I'm waiting for a copy of Adobe Premiere, but in the mean time, I have the option to use either ULead Media Studio Pro 6, or Pinnacle Pro-One. What do you guys think I should use?

  2. Hi, 5-6 yrs ago i started editing with MSP 5 and now i use version 7. I believe that it's one of the best programs around. However, i have never used Pinnacle Pro-One so i can't make a direct comparison between the 2 programs.

  3. I've been using MSP7 for 7 months now, I use it commercially to produce wedding video's and such. It was a little pricy for the day-today consumer, but if your finicky about quality, as I am, it's money well spent! I've yet to find anything that this program can't do!

MSP is certainly under-rated, although some of the bundles modules could do with a bit of work. I agree totally with GreyDeath - Vegas over Premiere in most circumstances.

  6. I've been using Vegas 5.0 for about 5 months now. it rocks. I started with sound forge and acid for audio and found vegas very easy to adapt to. combined with virtualdub for some occasional batch conversions and DVDarchitect 2.0 there is nothing I can't do with video

When I started out producing DVD's I was using Pinnacle Studio 8 for assembling movie clips, but did get Vegas 5.0 and found its set out terrible in comparison so went back to PS8. Very easy to use, produces good results without spending weeks wading through the manual on how to use it (as I suspected vegas 5.0) would have done

I'm still a Premiere user. Took long enough to learn it, not really wanting to worry about Vegas. That and the fact the my next card will be a Premiere-optimized card (Canopus or Matrox), no plans to change.

  9. Vegas 4 user. If I can justify going to 5, I will. Vegas has supported everything I've needed to do and the file formats I use. I like the idea of being able to work with mgep files in Vegas. I tried premier, but like photoshop, it has a steep learning curve. Pinnacle Studio 8 was too lame and I just don't like Uleads interface in VideoStudio 7.

Im with LordSmurf...im also a Premeire user, started out with Premeire since 5.0 (came bundled with the Pinnacle DC30 Plus capture card) and dont plan to change either. In fact, I just ordered the Adobe Video Collection Professional.....cant wait to receive it next week! That and with the new laptop I ordered too.....even though I know these programs have a steep learning curve, for me it will be worth it because it will enable me to produce the kind of video I want, and how I want it.

Pro-One seems to be way more powerful tool then Ulead. Although Ulead is a very capable product (or rather suite of programs) Pro-One is a truly broadcast quality, mighty tool. Do some research, but Pinnacle (although legacy) is in the league of its own.

It seems that most everyone likes the program they already have,... but that is not the question asked by the author of this post, which was; 1. MediaStudio 2. Pinnacle One

I have used VideoStudio 6, and 7, which are practically the same as MediaStudio, and I'm very happy with the results. I can make an excellent quality DVD from just about any media and add all kinds of special effects. Like any NLE software, you have to learn and know what you're doing and then it gets easy.

  15. Vegas is very easy to learn and can do anything (except mow the lawn.) No manual needed. Two thumbs up!
