  1. divx files that are slightly over 715mb are real pain because i have to sacrifice an extra cd. how can i reduce the size so it's under 700 to burn onto a single cd?

  2. You could cut out the opening and credits using virtual dub, which might get rid of 15 megs. Or you could reencode the file with a lower bitrate. If your cd burner supports overburning you could also use that option.

  3. k1jin,

I guess you're wanting to make vcd/svcd, right? Otherwise you wouldn't be posting your question on this site. I hope you wouldn't be upset with Corta2863 (if you have followed the step already) after reading my post reply. A 715 MB could easily fit a 650/74min cd. When making vcd, we're talking about mins not MB. 10MB = 1 min. So 715 MB is only 71 mins which could fit the 74 min cd. Take it easy Jordan

  4. DUDE....thenewboy.....look..

if his file is 715mb......you CANNOT burn that on to a 650mb CD !!!

The minutes that you are refering to are for CD audio at 16bit/44.1khz sampling rate... IT'S THE AMOUNT OF CD AUDIO !!

He could probably burn it on a 700 with overburn....

  5. Just so all you guys remember...

a CD that says.. 74min/650mb means..
74mins of CD audio at 16bit/44.1khz....or
    650mb of DATA !!!

I can put 650mb of Music in MP3 format....but that's data, not sampled music.

  6. I was refearing to make a cd with divx on it, not an (s)vcd. He doesn't necessary have to have a 650/74 min cd, it could be 700/80. That would allow a 700 meg file to fit on a 700 meg cd. Also don't cd sizes refer to a megabyte as 1000 kilabytes instead 1024? Doesn't the make a 650 meg cd allow 740 megs? If you can overburn you should be perfectly fine, and if I remember correctly you won't need to overburn at all.

  7. k1jin and Corta2863,

Sorry for the misunderstand. I thought k1jin was making a vcd but guess Corta2863 is correct. If k1jin wants to burn the divx, then k1jin should follow Corta2863 suggestion.

    For Dude...Jason A.

I know what you're saying. But I thought k1jin was making "VCD" and it's a little different, not just simply data/audio. Have you ever tried burning a 817 MB file onto a 700MB/80 min? I did. And it works. All I can suggest is if burning VCD, 10 MB = 1 min. Good Luck Jordan
