  1. Just a simple question that I could not seem to be found in posted already --

How do you, or can you get the Nero program to do SVCD. I used TMPGEnc to do convert an mpeg2 480x480 and I can't get nero valid date an mpeg2 --only has vcd in the side bar of the Compilation menu.

    Any help appreciated.

    Patrick.

It should be right below VCD

  4. IMHO, Nero5.5 is nowhere even close to being the best authoring/burning proggy for S/VCD.

It is fine for everything else.

  5. Hey vitualis

Thanks, so what in you opinion is best for svcd burning, this is important to me as this is the format I want to covert my home dv's to. I wish to do some nice menuing as well but I am in my early newbie stage and have not got around to looking at that yet.

    Thanks
    Patrick

  6. ack... nero 4 ever

i burn every thing with it.. data.. vcd/svcd/xvcd audio multisession. hasnt failed me yet

svcd should be the option under vcd in the burning 'wizard'

i havent tried anything else but nero does all and more so havent had the need to (well old versions of ezcd which sucked) cant address newer versions of ezcd

  8. Unless you got a newer version of Nero like 5.5.6.4 or something like that, you need to get the mpeg2 plug in....

  9. i think crazy has a svcd compliant mpeg-2 and just wants to burn it. i have a full version of nero... that might be your problem. you can author it for free (author = 'turn' the mpeg2 into a vcd compliant 'image') then just burn the image but thats a pita. unless you get into menu creation , nero burns (s)vcds for linear playback fine. just pay the $$

i happen to be a fan of menus.. but not everyone is - hehe

  10. Nero burns SVCD's fine for me, minus the fact i can't get them to fast forward or rewind with the scandata.dat file. Mine is also full version OEM. Never had a problem validating mpeg2 files except when i did it at 23.97fps instead of 29 fps. worked fine from then on

  11. nero just warns you 24 fps vcds might get rejected by a few players. but since its not out of spec it doesnt ask you to turn compliancy off . it'll burn it fine.

i havent burned any svcds long enough to test fast fowarding (only a few short ones to test if my player would play svcd.. and it did) i thought that (no fastfoward during svcd playback) was an apex issue?

  12. it (was) a nero issue.. as of nero 5.5.5.1 the svcd scandata.dat issue is fixed

  13. Crazy_MCK, for SVCD authoring I really think TSCV is your best choice. TSCV is a GUI for VCDImager. It uses the XML scripts to add entrypoints, loops, << >>, etc. XML is fairly easy to learn, but again TSCV will take care of it for you.

TSCV comes bundled w/ CDRDAO which is a commnd line CDR/W burning program. Again, TSCV works as a GUI for it. CDRDAO is the really the best program to use to burn bin/cue files. There are several GUIs for it (XDuplicator, VCDEasy, TSCV, etc) that are all about the same.

TSCV also allows you to make menus (motion or still), add seemless chapters (ie. entry points), add intro MPEGs, loop tracks, etc. etc. It's a very nice freeware bundle.

You can d/load the newest ver from http://www.ttool.org and there's a very good guide for how to use it to the left under Author.

If all you want to do is burn w/ TSCV (and/or add chapters) it's really very simple.

  14. Thanks everyone.

I don't mind buying something but need to try it first to make sure I am not going to have problems with it.

I got Premiere 6.0 bundled with my DV500 card but Premeire is turning out to be a nightmare to keep running and use though it does have some powerful features.

I will try Vejita-sama suggestion and look into TSCV, i'm also downloading trail version of Uleads MediaStudio Pro.

    Thanks again.

TSCV gives me a headache it's so complex.

  16. Even with my guide you still get headaches ? I got used to it by now
If you are just doing chapters, you could use VCDEasy instead, TSCV is more of a power users tool, it's got everything.

Nero is great for general burning tool with basic functions for everything, if you want power tools, i'd say find the best for each.
