The above links has snapsots of what I get from s-video and composite signals.
Does anyone know why I get this bad image from the s-video?
I connected my VHS to my TV with the s-video cable and it worked fine. So it's not the cable.

I have the latest drivers from nvidia, directx9.0b, 1024x768 resolution, 16bit color and I've tried another s-video cable.

I took out all the other PCI cards from my computer and left pctvpro only.
I also disconnected CD/DVD drivers and started the computer with a clean installation of winXP. Again distortions!!!
I also cut the power off the fans (cpu, case). Again distortions!!!
Furthermore, I got signal from the TV-Out of my GeForce4 Ti 4200 using the s-video cable and again I got the distortions.
Then I tried to change the "Spread Spectrum" option in the BIOS, cause I thought that these are EMI (Electromagnetic Interference), but nothing happend!

I also booted in Linux (Knoppel Live CD), which has it's own driver and capture program, but again I got the distortions.

Maybe is the PSU (power supply). I can't test it cause I don't have one.
I will search for shielded s-video cables, although I haven't heard that they exist.

    Thanks.

Are you commenting on the strange denim-like texture added to the picture. Sorry I can't help, I'm commenting because I get exactly the same thing from an ATI All-In-Wonder VE PCI when capturing via the S-Video port (I stupidly didn't check that the PC had an AGP slot before I bought it). My cable is very high quality. I've tried two different source devices (JVC S-VHS and a budget DVD player), so it isn't the source. I don't get this corruption on my work PC which has an ATI All-In-Wonder in an AGP slot.

The ATI website doesn't mention this problem. I would dearly love to find the cause (and a solution!) : all those high frequency edges really make a mess of an MPEG capture.

My home PC is a budget buy:

    WinXP Home
    2.6GHz Celeron
    Intel Graphics onboard (don't use)
    ATI All-In-Wonder-VE
TBC board (can't remember the make)
    80GB hard disk
    DirectX 9.0B
