Xvid with AC3 to DVD

I have an XVid movie with AC3 sound that I am trying to convert to DVDR. I am able to play the file and the sound works after I downloaded an AC3 codec from doom9.

When I try ot use Virtual Dub to extract the audio like I do with normal Xvid/Divx files I get an error saying I don't have a suitable audio decoder. I have also just tried using TMPGEnc ot convert the file to DVDR without extracting the audio first. When it is done the video is fine, but I have no audio at all.

Can someone help me and tell me what I am doing worng?

I am doing a similar task but i get out of sync between audio and video. Audio is little ahead than video.

Source: 29.97 fps Xvid with AC3.
Target: DVD
I demuxed the AC3 file using VirtualDubMod. Ran AC3Fix on it and it reported no errors.
I converted the video to MPEG-2 using CCE 2 pass VBR. (Bitrate calculated from videohelp bitrate calculator)
I tried TMPG DVDAuthor and DVD-Lab and the resulting video and audio is out of sync.

Is there a way to find out the audio delay from the source or from ac3 audio ? DVD-lab does have a field to accept audio delay ?

If you converted the file with CCE why did you demux the AC3 with virtualdubmod? You simply should have used DVD2SVCD then the "extracted audio" file from DVD2SVCD by using (which is the AC3 file) in DVD Lab.

What is the difference ? In both the cases, i seperate out AC3 file and convert the video using CCE and use two files in DVD-lab or TMPG DVD Author right ?

Are you saying that if i use DVD2SVCD it will compensate for the delay automatically ? Are there any players that play Xvid with AC3 file ? Divx player doesn't play the audio.
