Hi, not sure if there is a better forum to post these questions but here goes.

I am using Sub station alpha ver 4.08

Here are my questions about it.

    1) I want to move my subs up, by default the option for bottom subs is too low and will often get cut off by the TV when I convert it into a SVCD or DVD so how can I adjust it to move up more and for the tops subs, I want them to go down a bit.

    2) I want to know how to add karaoke subs. Like the words get highlighted as the opening song goes. Is there a way to do this with SSA? If so please tell me how and how can I adjust the timing of when the words get highlighted.

    3) I also want to add some sort of logo but I'm not sure if SSA can do this. I just want like a signature to fly in and fly out or something. If there is a better program than SSA to do this then please let me know. Maybe if someone knows of a good online SSA guide to do all this then just point me there. Thanks!

I wish I could remember a good karaoke guide to SSA, But I can't. Let me try to help with the little I do know:

    1) I want to move my subs up, by default the option for bottom subs is too low and will often get cut off by the TV when I convert it into a SVCD or DVD so how can I adjust it to move up more and for the tops subs, I want them to go down a bit.
Adjust the vertical margin by going to Styles=>Define=>Edit(Default). Adjust the vertical margin there.

    2) I want to know how to add karaoke subs. Like the words get highlighted as the opening song goes. Is there a way to do this with SSA? If so please tell me how and how can I adjust the timing of when the words get highlighted.
    Highlight the lyrics.

Go back to Styles=>Define=>Edit(Default). Change the Primary and Secondary colors, to what color you want the unsung lyric to appear in (Primary), and what color you want the sung lyric to appear in (Secondary).

From the main screen, select Effect=>Karaoke.

    3) I also want to add some sort of logo but I'm not sure if SSA can do this. I just want like a signature to fly in and fly out or something. If there is a better program than SSA to do this then please let me know. Maybe if someone knows of a good online SSA guide to do all this then just point me there. Thanks!
Although there is a function for this in SSA, I prefer the Logo filter in Virtual Dub.

    Hope this helps.

ok I tried the karaoke thing and I set the colors as well and the lyrics pop up as expected but the words arent getting highlighted. Like when a line comes up, maybe half the line is in the primary color and the other half is in the secondary color. Not sure why this is the case but no words get highlighted and stuff

That's strange, as I tried my post before I posted to make sure it would work and because I thought it would be an interesting project, and it worked perfectly. Did you highlight all the lyrics at the same time?

Anyway, this is how my lyrics looked after being formatted in SSA Karaoke Style:

And of course, after adding them into a video with the music using Virtual Dub and the TextSub filter:

I would post a link to it, but my mpeg version is about 120 MB. I may convert to wmv later to give a video version you can look at, as this karaoke thing is pretty cool.
