I have always used the cool Java Bitrate Calc from VideoHelp.com, but recently I'm having a problem...
I reformatted and reinstalled everything on my system (XP Pro with all updates), and then when I tried to view the calculator I found that I needed the Sun Java Runtime to view it. This surprised me, since I never needed to install it before (perhaps because I had a version of Netscape on my system then?), but I downloaded and installed it and the calculator worked. However I soon found that some web pages (esp. Reuters) would try to load Java ads and completely crash Internet Explorer with the Sun package. So I had to uninstall it (so now the Java ads work, but the calculator doesn't).
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there another Java package (or an older version) that people have found to be more reliable? I'd really like to use this calculator, but not at the cost of IE crashing on me constantly.
