  1. All the time I set CCE 2.5 to CBR (1150) and MPEG-1, but then it starts out at 1.2 and what not... it becomes a VBR, when I want a VCD compliant file.

    Am I missing something here?

    Thanks,
    Troy

You wont find any encoder, that encodes exactly at a constant bitrate. It is only more or less close to that. Just make sure you set the proper packet size if you want to create a system stream. Or demux / mux with TMPG after encoding to get a VCD compliant stream.

  3. Truman,

Thanks. Could you enlighten me on the packet size situation. I just leave it at the default 4096.

    Thanks,

For a (S)VCD compliant stream the packet size should be 2324.

2324 for both VCD and SVCD and XVCD as well.

  7. Truman,

If that is the case for (just about evey format) why is it at the default of 4096 in CCE?

I really don't know what the setting is for in laymans' terms, but I'm curious.

Truman, you've been a big help over the past couple of weeks. I wish you happy holidays and I hope santa drops some goodies down your chimney.

    Thanks,
    Troy

  8. Now I'm not positive of this, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the 4096 setting in CCE corresponds to the cluster size used in the UDF filesystem with which DVDs are formatted. After all, CCE is really largely intended to be a DVD encoder.
