  1. I have some old movies on beta tapes that are still in great condition. I can capture them with my capture card into AVI format without any issues but the trouble is that many of them are a couple of minutes longer than the 2 hour DVDR limit. I've also tried switch from SP mode to LP mode but then I was told that the file size exceeded the 4.7gb disc limit. Is there any way of defying such circumstances? Some form of after-market file compressor? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

    There isn't a 2 hour limit on DVD-R. Look at this thread, perfect for you.

    you need to convert that avi file to a mpeg file using a video encoder like TMPGE plus. here look at this guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/capture/nonatiavi/housepigtmpgenc.htm
