Well I wish now I had backup me DVD of Saving Private Ryan. I got the DVD when it 1st came out and after a few viewings it developed a slight image tear at the RADAR Tower scean right after where Wade gets killed. I didnt bkup since I felt that since its a press DVD it wouldnt get worst. Well I only watch this DVD like once a year on June 6, and this year I notice a lot of deteration at the same spots but now with more pixeliaztion and stuttering. Tried on two of my primary DVD players that have progresive scan and the probm is getting worst. Now I wish I bkup the original, but then again, the original DVD would still have rotted regardless but at least I would still have a reasonable bkup to watch
. Just a little pissed that the press DVD would go bad. Now have to replace it with the new release (60th ann ed).
Just a little venting..... 8)

Sorry to hear that. I've read that commercial DVDs don't enjoy the longevity of recordables because of the reflective layer of aluminum becoming oxidized. Sounds like you can attest to that first-hand :P
