    Hi,

I have a DVD I purchased and I'd like to back it up onto a DVD-R(my favorite FB game). I had thought I could do this with DVD Decryptor and created a *MDS and *ISO files but it was too big to fit onto a DVD-R. I need some way to split the file I created.

I did download DVD-Fab but am unsure how to proceed.

THanks for any assistance you can provide.

I have no idea what "FB game" means.

Your post makes it sound like you want to backup a movie DVD, yet this reference to "my favorite FB game" makes me wonder if what you have is some kind of game on DVD media. If that's what you have, then manono's link won't help you. I don't think games can be split or compressed. If what you have is actually a movie and not a game then manono's link is fine.

  3. Oh, you may be right. I saw what he said but it didn't register that it might be a game and not a video. After all, this is Videohelp.com, and not Gamehelp.com. When I want to split games I make an ISO, RAR them up, and then split the RARs between 2 DVDRs.

Sorry for the confusion. I did mean a DVD. It is a real football game that was shown on TV (Super Bowl XX from 1986) that was released as a commercial video on a DVD, not a video game. Is VobBlanker freeware?

    Hi,

This looks somewhat different and a little complicated. I found the Blank menu under Titles and selected Auto (Alt+T)

I don't have a VTS_02 or VTS_03 etc. Just see a VIDEO _TS.VOB 8192by and VTS_01_*VOB 07 titles and 7641 MB in size. The guide says something about needing to blank more??

What step do I do next?

    Thanks,

  7. The VTS_01_*VOB contains the movie in question. Highlight it in the top screen so it appears in the lower screen. Highlight it in the lower screen and hit 'Cells' to the right. Then blank half of the cells (highlight them one at a time and 'Blank') and process. Go back later and blank the other half and process.

The rest of that guide is about cleanup - making unclickable the menu buttons that go to removed cells, and adjusting cell commands so the DVD player doesn't have to cycle through the blank cells. Technically though, just following my instructions in this first paragraph will get you 2 playable DVDs, each with a different half of the movie. In principle it's not complicated at all.

Thanks for your reply. I think I about have it, but just want to make sure. I highlighted the The VTS_01_*VOB and a bunch of entries appeared below. It has
    PCG# Duration Size Action
    01 Entry 0:00:11:15 8448 KB Keep
    02 0:00:21:15 16 MB Keep
    03 0:00 00.15 8192 bytes Keep
    04 One Seq 2:33:44.12 7556 MB Keep
    05 One Seq 0:00.00.15 0 byt Keep
    06 One Seq 0:00.34.20 23 MB Keep
    07 One Seq 0:00.45.01 29 MB Keep

there are a few more columns but i didn't list them but can if needed. The Cells button is not lit yet, from your directions I need to click on one or more of the PCGs. Once I click on them I assume I can then click on the cells tab on the right. DO I click on them all or just one or two of them?

    Thanks again for your help.

  9. The movie is in PGC 4, as you can easily tell. Click on it and then hit 'Cells" and go on from there.

Hit the rest and then Prev/Cut on the right to see what they are. Either keep them or blank them also, if you don't want them. They might be logos, warnings, and other useless garbage. Keep the 0 byte one.

I'm not sure what the other PGCs are. When I click prev/cut and the on the next screen click play to preview nothing happens. Or do I need to click something else to preview.

I highlighted PGC4 and click cells which brought me to the next screen. DO I need to only keep 3979 MB?

    # size duration
    1 1956MB 0:40:43.03
    2 1941MB 0:38:32.08
    3 2038MB 0:40:53.03
    4 1619 MB 0:33:34.28
    5 780 KB 0:00:01.00

If so I would keep 1 and 2 for disk 1 correct? Then Click apply process

  11. You've got an over two and a half hour movie with only 5 cells? Very peculiar. But, to answer your question, yes.

As for Prev/Cut, you can also highlight the PGC in the lower screen and use the little screen in the top right of the main program window (move the slider), without hitting Prev/Cut. That's enough to see what you have. I have no idea why you don't get picture when using Prev/Cut and 'Play' (unless you chose one of the PGCs with no video(3 and 5)). You can try hitting the 'More' button in the top center and then in 'Previews' try checking 'Do not use overlay' or 'Autoplay'. I don't have anything checked and have no trouble playing the video, but I usually use the slider.

Thanks again for your help. It is a video of an old Super Bowl football game. I would guess the four cells are for the 4 quarters,

When I click process I keep getting an error message. Did I forget something? Here is the log file.

  13. I have no idea why it doesn't work, except there must be something screwy with the source DVD. My next suggestion is to reauthor using DVD Shrink to get half the game at a time, and then stick what you have back into the DVD using VobBlanker. Here's are guides:

    http://www.dvdshrink.info/splitting-v2-3.php

If you don't need menus, then that'll be enough. If you want the menus back, then:

thanks. BTW can you set the output drive in VOB Blanker to the same as the input drive in VOB blanker to burn it to a DVD-R?

  15. I'm not sure I understand the question. Yes, you can use the same drive for the output, although, of course the processing will go more slowly than if you use a different drive. I don't know what that has to do with burning to disc.

I think it is going to work now. I decrypted the disk using DVD decryptor and now I can preview the files.

When I click process it tells me to select the output folder and I have that as D:\ which is a DVD-RW drive. I'd like to burn this to two DVD-Rs. What do I have to do to tell it to do this?

Thanks again for your help and patience.

I missed this initially in the guide instructions but I don't see how to do this...

"Input the DVD you want to split and set the output for disc one"

How do you set the output for disc one? Is this a command somewhere that says "disc one" or is this telling to set a directory for disc one?

The question I have is how do I get this onto a new DVD-R(s)? I think this will process but it keeps telling me to check output folder when I set it to D:\

No, don't do that. Burn it after processing and testing.
How do you set the output for disc one?
Just set up separate folders for the 2 parts. Did you really have the output set for your DVD burner? Even for the earlier attempts when you got that 'Input error: Reached end of VOB too early' message? Perhaps that was the problem with the earlier attempt as well. There's no way VobBlanker will write it to a DVDR. It doesn't write to disc. At that point it's not a DVD anyway, and can't be burned as a DVD. It has to be in a VIDEO_TS folder.

To get it burned, first process it. Then set up some folders. Call one by the name of the movie, like THE_HANGOVER_PART1, or somesuch. Inside that one create two more folders, an AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder. After testing your VobBlanker results in a DVD player like PowerDVD, stick all the IFOs, BUPs and VOBs in that VIDEO_TS folder. You could even have VobBlanker output directly to the VIDEO_TS folder. Then open ImgBurn and make sure it's set in EZ-Mode Picker (Mode->EZ-Mode Picker). Then choose 'Write Files/Folders To Disc', point to your THE_HANGOVER_PART1 folder, and follow the easy instructions from there.

Thanks, I got it to work with ImgBurn. I didn't know that VOB Blanker couldn't burn a DVD but I was starting to think that was the case.

I actually had the output on the hard drive when I was getting those error messages. Only when I decrypted it in the file mode using DVD Decryptor and saved it to the hard drive was I able to process the file with VOB Blanker.
