  1. Can you make an intro using Macromedia Flash 5 and append it to an avi using Virtual Dub? I have tried many attempts, but alwayds being stopped by a message that tells me they have different video streams.

The specifications of the two files are exactly the same. The flash video had been changed into avi as well

    320X240
    32 bit
    15.000 frames/sec
    41,000 16bit stereo

Hopefully someone can clear this up for me

I've done this heaps of times without problems. Make sure you are using the latest version of VirtualDub and then try again.

  4. I have done a lot of intros and menus using Flash5 , but I use TMPEGenc to convert avi to mpg without any problems. I create only video in flash then encode together with wave audio in TMPGenc.
    My setting always
    resolution 704x480 16 bit
    30.00 fps
    44,100/16bits stereo

  5. On a related note, how would I encode a downloaded Flash file (e.g., Beebo.swf) and convert it into mpeg?

Can I just feed it into Tmpgenc or do I have to convert to avi? How would I convert flash to avi?

  6. With downloaded flash, I believe you cannot convert to "fla" format (original format of flash), because they all have a convert protection. And if you cannot convert to "fla" mean you cannot export to "avi movie format".

But this can be done, I think there is a software that can remove protection of flash movie (swf). You have to find and use this software first, good luck. BTW I know nothing about this software so pls don't ask.

  7. I have tried again and again. Still recieving that message from Virtual Dub when I try to merge the avi intro from flash to an avi clip, both having the same attributes. Message is that the clips have different video streams. I just don't understand why Virtual Dub won't append these to clips. If someone has any idea on how to help, it would be appreciated

  8. Could it be that your flash AVI is a different codec than your other AVI?

Try running your flash AVI through VDub alone and convert to the same codec as your other AVI. It might work.

Also, you show your Flash AVI as having 15 FPS, shouldn't that be 29.97 or 30? (NTSC)

I know VDub can be picky on this. I use AVI/IO to capture and VDub won't merge AVI's if they came from different batch sessions even though the settings are identical.
