No Sound after Encoding with TMPGenc Plus

Hi all, I use the following programs to make a VCD from a DVD:

1. SmartRipper 2.41
2. DVD2AVI 1.76
3. TMPGenc Plus 2.58
4. Nero Express 5.5

I have made many VCD's without any problems what so ever and have
always done everything the same way. But now I have come across a
problem.

After getting the d2v. and wav. files (created in DVD2AVI),
encoding them in TMPGenc, burning them to CD and playing it in my DVD
player, I noticed there wasn't any sound. So I redid the d2v. and wav.
files (in DVD2AVI) and tried again, still without success (I did this
3 or 4 times all the time thinking DVD2AVI was the problem).

I decided to test the wav. file in musicmatch and windows mediaplayer and all the sound was there, as clear as the original DVD. So I figure my problem is with TMPGenc, or is it the VOB files which I ripped with SmartRipper? Can anyone help me?

The DVD I have ripped is LOTR - Return Of The King, I also ripped the 'Special Features' Disc to this movie as well and made it into a VCD without any problems (if this makes a difference).

If the WAV file can be played as per normal, then it is not the ripping or DVD2AVI stages. That leaves us with TMPGEnc. Do you definitely have System(Video+Audio) selected ? Are you using a VCD template ? Does the MPEG play fine before you burn it ?

Make sure the MPEG plays audio back fine. If it does make sure the audio is 44 khz MP2 at 224 kbps.

Yes Definately!

No - there is no sound after TMPGenc has encoded it to MPEG (I have played it in WinDVD)

Are you using a VCD template ?

Make sure the MPEG plays audio back fine. If it does make sure the audio is 44 khz MP2 at 224 kbps.

Here are my TMPGenc Settings (using the project wizard, with a custom template that has worked fine with all my previous VCD's)

* Stream Type:
- MPEG-1 file Video-CD (non-standard)

* Video Information
- Resolution: 352 x 288 pixel
- Framerate: 25 fps
- Birate: average 900 kbps

* Audio Information
- Sampling Frequency: 44100 Hz
- Number of channels: 2ch Stereo
- Birate: 224 kbps

You DID remember to load the wav file, and not expect it to load itself, right? Just b/c you loaded the d2v doesnen't mean you get audio. May have been something you overlooked!

Yes. Even using the wizard I still had to manually load the .d2v and .wav files.

I am going to try a few other programs such as VobEdit, ac3Tool and BeSweet, although I don't know how to use them yet. I tried BeSweet but I can't quite figure out what I'm suppose to do and I can't figure out how to load the vob files into ac3Tool to convert them to .wav NB: I am new to all these programs so if anyone can tell me what I can do with them or if you have any other software suggestions to convert the vobs to .wav (or whatever), it will be much appreciatedl

Ok, well I decided to try a different encoding program - XMpeg, this program converted my ripped VOB files to MPG (takes about 3 times as long as tmpgenc), it took a bit of playing around with and I converted a small portion of my ripped movie, and viola, I got video WITH sound, BUT.... the sound is out of sync (I suppose I'll worry about that later), but least there is sound, it's about 4-5 secs ahead of the video. I noticed all (or most of) the default audio settings of XMpeg are the same settings I had in tmpgenc, so what am I missing in tmpgenc???
