looks a stupid question but my first week using a mini dv, what is the difference recording in LP or SP mode, i know you get extra time in LP but in terms of cassette life duration and video quality will this affect my recording ? which mode i should always use ?
thank you

SP every time. DV is compressed heavily as it is, you really don't want to make it worse

I was understanding that compression is unchanged. The difference is how the tape is used. More data is crammed in on a tighter area, same DV video compression. The only drawback is the data may not come back off the tape in LP mode.Originally Posted by flaninacupboardWant my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

either way, with tapes costing ~£2 it hardly seems worth introducing potential problems.
