  1. Hi

    I'm using ffmpegX 0.0.9i on a OS X 10.3.4.

I'm trying to extract an audio-stream from a VIDEO_TS-Folder. Everytime I try to do so, the Process Information Window says after one second that it finished working and displays

"Encoding started on Fri May 28 11:44:46 CEST 2004
    /Users/toddd/Desktop/VIDEO_TS: Unknown format"

This seems strange because I had no other problems with this VIDEO_TS-Folder while doing all sorts of other things (like encoding the whole movie inkl. sound and subtitles)

Who has an idea what the problem could be?
    Thank you.

  2. ffmpeg engine (used to convert audio) does not recognize VIDEO_TS as input. You should use VOB as input.

  3. OK, and how do I know which of the many VOB-Files is the one I want?

  4. You should use 0SEx to generate a single VOB file ("program stream"). 0SEx is also able to extract the audio by enabling "elementary streams".

  5. Is there a way I could do this with ffmpegX (I'm thinking about the checkbox 'keep elementary streams'.

  6. No, ffmpegX is an encoder, so you can obtain elementary streams only if you re-encode the VIDEO_TS again (meaning much more wait than just using an extractor like 0SEx).

  7. Okay! So is feeding ffmpegX an VOB file as input generally the better idea than providing it a VIDEO_TS? Or does this only apply to the one case if I want to extract an audio track?

  8. For now, only in the case you want to extract an audio track.
