  1. When I playback the avi files the sound lvl is really low. All of my sound settings in teh PC are maxed out. I have an Audigy Gamer that is connected to my Surround sound reciever. To hear the movie I have to MAX out the reciever volume...

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Is it every movie or just certain ones?

  3. Well, with all of my sounds maxed and the movies just being a medium to low sound lvl it seems there is something goofy. There is however a difference between movies on the loudness of the sounds...

Is it the lvl that the rip was made at?

So do all movies play low or not? A little clarification please. Are you sure the wave volume is maxed? Double click the volume icon in the system tray to find out.

  5. All volumes are maxed. I put in a DVD and played it also. It too plays really quiet. I have to turn the Surround sound receiver all the way up to get it loud enough to hear. I also played some sample music on the system and it didnt play loud either....... I am pretty well versed in computers. Avid gamer and I have built 2 systems. Just my first time setting up my xtra machine as part of my entertainment system.

Entertainment system has the surround sound receiver & a DVD player hooked up to the TV... I bet I am just overlooking something!!!!!

    Possible fixes:
    1) I am making sure the cable that comes from my Audigy Gamer and splits into 2 RCA jacks is a stereo cable..

    2) I am installing some of the Audigy control panels to see if it solves anything. Currently Ijust have the drivers installed. I think that I may have to have these installed in order for the surround sound to set up properly???

Sounds like you're doing the right thing to fix the problem. It might very be a problem with your card. Did this start of the sudden or has it always been like that?

  7. well i used in on my new gaming machine and everything worked great. I put together my previous system with the 8500DV AIW video card and this Audigy Gamer. I just installed from the installation CD that came with the Audigy and now I get no sound when I play the movie. What is strange is that when I run the speaker test for 5.1 surround sound all i get is the center speaker and its LOUD heh.

Does anyone have a diagram for the Audigy gamer that shows how to hook it up to a home theater Dolby surround sound receiver 5.1?

The only thing I have going out of the Audigy atm is the one cable that is the smaller stereo jack that splits into 2 (left and right) RCA plugs. I have these plugged into the back of the receiver in the VIDEO 2 input area. I am not sure if that is what i am supposed to do or not but that is what I got from the manual.

I am really lost atm. I dont know if it is a codec problem or what. I have the AC3 codec installed and the Divx player installed. There are so many different settings it hurts me head..

    ANY help would be appreciated.

  8. Going to try another complete reinstall. Something is just not right. I thought that it may have been a codec issue with the few players I have installed on the machine but who knows. All I know is that once I installed the Video player that came with the Audigy all sounds stopped working on my system. Had enough... wiping it tonight when I get home from work.

  9. A couple of things. 1. Try plugging a CD player or something into your reciever to make sure that the reciever is not the problem.
    2. If CD works ok, then make sure that the volume in your media player is turned up. Some players actually control volume independently of the mixer controls.

Beyond that, I can't imagine what you could try that you're not already doing.

  10. hmmm well i know the reciever works because the if I play a DVD through the DVD player the sound is flawless.

Now I have to pull about 20 gigs of rips off of that other drive so I can reformat... Lifes a bitch atm

What advice can I get on Codecs. All of the rips I have are AVI or Divx. Should I even install codecs seperately from the ATI software that came with the card? Maybe that is where I screwed it all up...
