I can't seem to get anything to recognize the file type. It all says invalid file type so I was wondering if there is something or some way I can convert the file into a new format recognizable to all software. Right now the only thing that will play the .avi files is Divx player but everything else says it's not supported. What should I do since I would like to watch these files on a regular DVD player.
Thanks

get avicodec to identify what codec the file is using
then download it
my money is on "divx 5.11" or "xvid koepi 1.0 rc 4" playing it
if you want to convert to a dvd which works in a regular dvd player then check out the guides
strange question for someone with 500+ posts on a video conversion site
unless this is a one off file that that is using some weird codec
i came across the on2vp3 codec on a file a couple of weeks ago
just use avicodec to find out what the codec is then search the forum for it
if i were a bookmaker i would offer odds of 100-1 that its already been talked about :P -
Alright, thanks for your suggestions. As for my 500+ posts, I mainly post in the off topic forums but I have never dealt with burning these types of files to DVD to be played by a DVD player. I usually just stick to DVD backups which I have down now and no problems at all. But thanks again for your info.Originally Posted by hhhhbk

That's sad if that's what some people here try to do. I can only hope that there aren't that many DVDrhelp forumers that try to pull that.Originally Posted by teegee420

Hey really neat program, got the appropriate codec to play the files and voila, now I will be able to burn them to a DVD.
Thanks as usual! :P
