  1. Each time I've tried to copy (using DVDBackup 1.3) a DVD I've gotten the following message:

"Failed to decrypt 'file'. Skip it and continue or stop processing"

The two movies that I had trouble with are:

    Under the Tuscan Sun
Looney Tunes - Back in Action

Is there a fix for this? Thanks!

  2. Have you played the DVDs in the DVD Player before you ripped with DVDBackup? You needs to play some of the disc in order to decrypt the CSS keys.

Anyway, I would suggest using either MacTheRipper or YadeX instead. I've had more success with these rippers and since DVDBackup hasn't been updated in a lond while I'd switch to something with more up-to-date support.

  3. Download Osex and use that when DVDbackup gives you that. I prefer DVDbackup because of its user-freindly interface - but the downfall is that it does not decrypt every DVD. I have yet to have Osex stumped. Just make sure to tell Osex that you want a "DVD folder" - in order for it create a proper Video_ts suitable for DVD2oneX or other compressor.

MacTheRipper is typically the most compatible. Note that OSEx in DVD Folder mode has incredibly poor read error handling, and often messes up the video, causing severe pixelation, and occasional crap-outs sometimes. If you're gonna use OSEx, DVD Image mode is a lot more reliable, though it takes about 3x longer.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  6. MacTheRipper worked great. Thanks for everyone's help. It's great to have a great place to ask question and get the help you need in such a short period of time.
