  1. hi folks.
    i have a serious problem.
im from germany and i'd like to digitalize a NTSC movie, in order to make a VCD out of it! therefore i have to capture it to hdd.
my equipment is a winTV PVR capture-card and a "ntsc-playback" videorecorder. i used to capture my stuff with virtual dub.
i thought, this should be no bigger problem, because i can watch this ntsc-movie with this recorder on my normal tv.
but, when im trying to capture it with my pc (winME) all screws up and i only can capture a black&white, tilting movie.
what do i wrong? can anyone help me out of this misery?
remember, im from germany, we normaly have PAL.
    great thanks,
    pascl

    hi pascal,
the wintv pci records only standard NTSC at 4.429Mhz
so you need a videorecorder able to playback
real NTSC. NTSC playback on PAL-Tv gives you a NTSC
picture (525lines/60Hz) with Colorinformation in PAL so the
wintv pci records only the picture without color.

  3. hi, thanks 4 your answer, but where in hell can i get an REAL-ntsc playback recorder else where as if in america?
so ... is there no other alternative way to do this? can another capturing card handle this problem or do all the german card do hav this problem?

    tnx, pascl

p.s. are there any hardware differences between the american and the german capture cards?? which?
