I use disk clean up and defragmenter weekly and tonight all of a sudden I go to run disk cleanup and it no longer works. It opens and seems to start...then 10 seconds later it just seems to stop, including disk activity. Any suggestions on where to start would be greatly appreciated. TY

Disc clean up in notorious for stopping like that. -
I would also try one of the free disk cleaners (link below). You may prefer the Microsoft one but this one might help you pin down where the problem is.

I tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked so I got pissed off and did a format and reinstall. TY for your time.

I never thought of "disc cleanup" as being important enough to reformat to get it to work.
