I was ready to go get my credit card and order one until I saw the price on those things!!!

You are only buying basically a portable hard drive, heck One could be made very easily for ALOT cheaper cost.....

any iideas?

ideas on what? how to make a hard drive? Na, I sure don't haha,,, here's a similar product apparently:

Can I record (via tape) and record to the hard drive in my computer through firewire at the same time as I record it on the tape to eliminate the need to capture it later?

Oooh right,,, do you know if Vegas 4.0 would allow me to record via firewire to my hard drive while shooting?
