  2. well, there are a million posts that talk about the greatness of dvdshrink as compared to over softwares AND there are millions of posts that talk about how good/bad nero is. I am going to be lazy and ask that you do a search if you want to find that information out.

Bottom line, it is a personal decision as there are lovers of both, haters of both, and people that use a mix. My personally, dvdshrink and dvddecrypter are the 2 softwares I use to backup ALL of my dvd's (commerical and homemade). I have a 32" newer tv and they are IMO exact copies of the original (I however, do not do full disc copy, but rather movie only and remove certain audio channels and subtitles and cut credits). Before you ask, which way is best (full disc vs movie only), please do a search.

dvdsrink is a transcoder, nero is a burner-two different apps. You can shrink the dvd to fit on a dvd-5 and then use nero to burn, however, with the later/est version of dvdshrink, probably best to just use dvddecrpyter. All freeware.

I believe theted is refering to Recode which comes with the Nero
software suite. Recode is written by the same author as DVDShrink
and has much the same functions.

    @ theted

Both apps seem to do a similar job at the moment. It is noteworthy,
however, to keep in mind that the author of both DVDSHrink and Recode
has stated that he is not making any more features for DVDShrink.
He is concentrating on Recode and only adding the odd bug fix
    to DVDShrink.
