  1. Hi,

I've got an mpeg2 file and would like to convert it to mpeg1 so that I can burn it to a vcd.

Can someone help me detail the process I need to follow?

    Thanks!

  2. I've read it and actually did what the page said. But the problem is that there is no audio after I've converted it.

    Any thoughts?

  3. You need to provide full details i.e. what is the mpeg 2 source from Dvd, download? etc etc. What tools are you using?? Have you tired extracting the Wav (audio file) with Virtual Dub or DVD2AVI??

  4. Ok. I got the movie from a friend who downloaded it. It's a dvd rip into mpeg2.
I used TMPGEnc to try to convert it to mpeg1. Used the file as my vid source, no audio source though. Loaded the NTSC VCD template as well as the unlock, like the forum said. That's it. When it's done, no audio though.

  5. If your sure there's sound on the original source file, then try extracting that first using virtual dub. When saved as a Wav, this can be entered into the audio input for TMPGenc..

  6. Ummm. vdub can't open MPEG2 files... so can't extract the audio with it.

You do this exactly the same way as a DVD, use DVD2AVI, open up the movie. Go to audio and check decode. Save the project. You'll have two files afterwards, an audio track and a .d2v file that can be opened in tmpgenc as a video source.

Make sure not to move the original mpeg2 till your done.

Download the mpeg2 codec on the tools page and vdub can open mpeg2. save wave, convert it in tmpge and multiplex in tmpge.
