  1. hi guys, having a few problems, and just dont have a clue whats going on.
ill explain things as best i can.

    here goes

this is the method i use to burn all my dvds

    1. i have the .bin file of the movie, which is originally in svcd format usually in 2 parts, so i extract each mpg file from the iso using the extract but filter only M2F2 mpeg frames.

    2. that works fine, the mpg from both isos extract fine, and if i playback the mpg on my pc it plays perfectly.

    3. i import each mpg into dvd lab, where it does its demuxing thing, that goes to plan, then i do the audio conversion into 48k that goes to plan aswell, so far so good im thinking.

    4. i then. while in dvd lab still go to project > compile dvd
so that does that, and all seems to go well, no errors.

    5. i load up TMPGEncDVDAuthor. i then load up the dvd writing tool, and burn the folders that have been made with dvd lab.

    6. my dvd player wont play the dvds, thats understood, its quite old, so i use my chipped ps2, and they work there, but this is the problem, they all seem to go slow, and sluggish and look like they sometimes skip a few frames, but iv noticed iv i rewind the dvd then sometimes where it skipped before doesnt skip now, so im thinking this could just be a problem with my ps2 playing these dvds, because i played the dvds on my pc, using windvd and they worked fine there, no slowness, no skipping frames.

    7. i ran into 1 other problem 2day, while doing all the same processes as above, i was doing a copy of the rundown, however the audio is way out of sync, this is the first time iv had this problem, and iv made this dvd the same way iv made all my others, its really bugging me.

my question is, is my method of doing my dvds a bad method? is it wrong? should i be doing something else.

i would really appreciate any help.

    thanks for your time.

edit: oh yea i almost forgot, i did 1 xxx dvd, this was a vcd originally though, but the video files where in .mpg format and not .dat, my method of doing this was to simply add them in TMPGEnc and do it the long way, this took about 8 hours, but it played on my dvd player, very strange.

  2. sorry guys i have 1 more question

on playback on my dvd player and ps2, at the moment where the 2 mpg files are joined,it always pauses for a slight second or 2

is there any way possible to have a seamless join without any pause whatsoever, if you get what i mean.

sorry if im being a pain in the ass, but we all gotta start somewhere.

Don't know about ps2's but some dvd players I've come across don't like svcd's and either just won't play them or play sluggish

If your dvd player plays a std svcd on a cdr you shouldn't have a prob playing the dvd unless its a media issue (bear in mind svcd is not a dvd standard)

My experiance of burning with TDA was not to use it as the dvds would only play in 2 out of my 3 players!! Burnt same files with nero 5. and dvds play on all 3!

I don't use your tools, but a few general thoughts. You need to try the finished DVD on another player to see if you really have a problem. You could take it to a store that sells players and ask to try a couple of their machines. Try different media. TDA works fine for me. The skipping, etc., is probably a reading problem, not a writing problem. The VCD format may work because the bitrate is less and the player can keep up with a hard to read disk? Not sure. The pause between SVCD files may be similar to the built in overlap that I have (About 2 or so seconds) when I used DVD2SVCD. It's normally used so you have a better transition when you change SVCD's. You should be able to trim it out. (In TDA?) You could try SVCD2DVDmpg. It's set up for what you are doing. Author and burn with TDA. Hope this helps a little.

Does your player play svcd on a cdr? if not then you ain't got a chance.

svcd 480*480 NTSC or 480*576 PAL is not compliant with dvd standards can be done but player f*#k up .
