Basic DVD Burning.... HELP ME

Hi there....

i am very new to this dvd burning process so please baer with me!!!
i have a new NEC 1300A and i am useing DVDXCOPY EXPREE. everything seams to be burning ok.... according to explorer, the disk is full after burning. when i go to play the movie, i have tried about 5 different players including the drive that burned the disc, an error comes up:

Error Code: 89030000
"Unknown File Format"

I have tried two different disc's; Sony DVD + R and
Verbatim DVD + R. all i am useing this burner for is to make copies of my " personal dvd movies "
can you help me.... please
