  1. Theres a song thats only available on dvd that I want to use but Im having problems finding out how to rip audio from the "Extras" section of the dvd... Its only about 4:10 and is shown as a "Music Video"... What can I use to rip it or even how can I rip it as a movie and then extract the audio from that file?

  2. DVD2AVI will do the job. Find which VOB the audio corresponds to and load it up in that software. Select the (im assuming here) dolby digital track under AUDIO and hit Decode, then go to audio 48 > 44.1 khz and select Ultrahigh. Then go to Save Project and point to a folder and it should decode a 44.1 wave file for you to convert to mp3 or burn to a cd, or edit in your sound software, etc

    Smart Ripper has an option to split the movies into it's elementary streams. You will get an m2v (video) file and an ac3 (audio) file. No need to take the extra step with DVD2AVI.

    However, if you want the audio in a wav format DVD2AVI will decode it for you.

  7. Find the vob that contains the audio, open the vob in goldwave (the lastest if you can). Play that audio and find the right segment you need. Mark it and save it as mp3 128 and 44.1 You are done.

  8. Bringing this topic outta the grave

    So I tried it all and I think I stumbled my way to ripping something wrong outta the dvd, but then my dvd drive crashed and burned out. So all this time later I finally got a new one and Im drawing a blank again.

    Explained slowly, whats a VOB and how do I determine which VOB si the right one I want?

    VOB=Video OBject
    Use DVDShrink to find the extra you want then use VOBEDIT to demux and AC3Tool to convert.
    ...or you can play the extra on PowerDVD and capture the sound with Audacity,not as good of quality but a hell of alot easier.
