I pass analogue video through a Canopus advc50 and that feeds into the IEEE1394 port on the back of the motherboard.
No audio sync problems with this arrangement but does anyone know the pathway the audio goes once it has come into the PC as I don't have many options on how to control and monitor the audio levels.
At the moment I am using an equalizer on the analogue audio before it goes into the Canopus to clean up the audio and boost or cut levels when needed, I have not yet tried other programs that have been suggested, but there must be a way to at least control the audio once it is in the PC?

There are several ways. My favorite is Gold Wave. There are several audio encoders/editors that do a great job with audio, suggest you look in the Tools section at left under audio.
    Hello.
