I burned a 19+ min. clip onto CDRW (the same way as I normally do on DVD's I burn) that would play on my computer but not both of my standalone players. Can they be played on other players? I'm not talking about creating VCD's or SVCD's. I'm talking about copying the actual DVD files to the CDRW.

You'd be making an miniDVD, or cDVD (and yes, I know it's on a CD-RW, that's just what they are called). Most set-top players can not play these, but it will be playable on a computer.

If your dvd player shows the minidvd as folders you can choose the vob file and play that way.

The only downside to that is a lot of players can't get the data off a CD fast enough because the density of the data prevents it being spun quickly enough.
If you've encoded your video at a fairly high rate it may stutter. loose lip sync etc. But if you keep the bitrate down, the results can still be quite impressive.
