  1. Hello Guys,

I recently bought a Jetway FM/TV tuner card. It came with the two applications for viewing TV/listening to radio as well as capturing of course. The PCI TV Station and Intervideo's WinDVR. The latter can record to mp3g1/mpeg2 directly.

Viewing is perfect, all cable channels are all right. However, I am having some problems with capturing.

Using WinDVR, it can capture video and audio just fine but audio has hissing which I dont understand why. Line in is the source of audio as I have set it. However, using PCI TV Station, it doesnt record the audio at all. There is no way on PCI TV Station to set the audio source.

To do further test, I downloaded VirtualVCR. There is a way to set the source there, I chose Line In, but still it doesnt record the sound. I did look at the system's volume settings and making sure that Line In is unchecked. The tuner' card's Audio out is definitely attached the the sound card's Line In slot.

I used Ulead DVD Movie Factory and without changing any settings that much, it was able to record the sound but same with WinDVR, it still has hissing.

So what could be the possible reasons why in some programs, there is no soun dbeing captured when I have made sure the sound source is line in?

I hope you guys can suggest some possible ways I can troubleshoot this. Thanks a lot.

BTW, my sound card is onboard but I dont think it matters.

  2. I think it's a conspiracy

Actully, I can't even get virtualVCR to even work with my ATI 7500 AIW card.No sound or video.

Do you get his hissing when you record audio using other non capture software?

This may seem simplistic, but did you check the sound card's audio application mixer to be sure everything was set there correctly? For example my setup is a Dazzle DVC II capture card and a Hercules Fortissimo III sound card. My sound card has an audio mixer and my capture card has audio settings also. You may need to make sure both apps are set right. Just a thought.

  4. Just a thought, but I've had some difficulty in the past capturing using the stereo setting with some sources ....hissing, random scratchy noise, etc. Switching the source to "mono" cleaned it up.

  5. Ill try your suggestions guys.

I would also like to say that using various programs to capture gave me the same results and problems BUT this only happens if a program is saving the clip as AVI. Never had any problems for this apps saving the captured video as mpeg1 or mpeg2
