  1. OK, I am trying to make a vcd using Tmp, the audio is great but the video not so great. I was wondering is there any way to improve the quailty of the video on vcd's, currently is turns out blocky, kind of like if you have directv and it is storming it gets distorted before the picture goes out, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Use GSpot to identify the FOURCC code of the source file (Is it AVI?), and install the proper codec.

  3. You should now that some high res avi files when encoded to vcd are being encoded in much lower resolution some will look stretched out the video will not always still look good after convertign to vcd so try svcd.

  4. The maximum bitrate for standard VCD is 1150 kbps, which is too low for fast motion scenes. Hence what you get is macroblocking. If your player will let you play nonstandard VCDs (encode a test clip, burn to CD-RW) then use 2Pass VBR video with a higher maximum bitrate (about 1250 kbps or so). Also, under Quantisization Matrix, enable the soften block noise at the bottom ans et it to something like 45 and 45.
