    Hi! I'm not sure if this should be in the "newbie" forum or not, but here it is anyways...

    I've been encoding DVD with MPEG1 video to fit 6-7 hours on one disc. (BTW, this is great with kids videos!) Does anyone know how I can rip these back into MPEG1 files?

    I've tried Smartripper and DVD2AVI but it just doesn't like MPEG1-encoded DVDs.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Roland

    You can rip the MPG with DVDDecryptor. Then, hopefully, you can chop it up using your tool of choice.

    Then, you have to de-multiplex and convert the audio back to 44 khz, the re-multiplex before making a VCD(assuming it's still 224 kbps?). Awful lot of work!

    To Baldrick who suggested VOBEdit...thank you. It worked like a charm.
    • * I ripped the video back on to my hard drive (although I could have demuxed it straight from the DVD).
      * Opened up the VOB in VOBEdit to be demuxed.
      * Demuxed the MPEG stream.
      * Demuxed the MPA Audio stream.
      * Used TMPGEnc to perform a Simplex Mux of the audio & video stream.
      * Voila! I got my MPEG1.
