  1. I was thinking of switching from my Princo's to these RITEK. I've heard good things about RITEK, and the media code being RITEK G04 show's it.

Any comment about this media would be appreciated. Below are the specs. I'm hoping to get feedback on them! Thanks!

These are Ritek Grade A DVD-R media rated at 1X. These are the shiny/mirror topped disk with the dark purple bottom.

    Media Code Id: 1.0x 1385
    Write Strategy Speed: 2.0x
    Current Drive Speed: 2.0x

    Media Code:
    00000000 00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 37 0E 0B .B...@....P..7.. 00000010 FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03. 00000020 00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 ................

Everything to date. These will burn at 2x on all Pioneer dvd-r burners and some Sonys with the right firmware. 2x burning has not been tested on the 8x models but should not be a problem.

  2. I didnt know they did 1/2x GO4's????

Anyways currently Ritek GO4's are considered superior quality to the Princos, have you got some from more than 6months ago, do thewy still play well? GO4s are considered better and wou;ld adivse the move (although if the princos work fine)

  3. I was always under the impression that the G03s burned at 1x/2x, and that G04s were 1x/2x/4x. I haven't heard of anyone finding G04s that aren't meant to burn at 4x. Can anyone confirm this?

Note: if you look in the media code, it says that these are G03s and so I just answered my own question. I was using the G03s when 4x media was pretty expensive, but since the price came down I've gone to the G04s. Both are great discs and I haven't had any problems with either.

I like them. They're relatively cheap, and ritek quality.

Never heard of 2x G04's either. I use 2x G03 shiny tops in my LG 4040B burner and love them. I also have G04 white top....on those I have had some bad burns....2 out of the 30 so far. I bought 3 10-packs of those and have a few left. A attribute the bad burns to that damn NeoDVD trying to step in and take over everything that has to do with a blank DVD in my computer...it has since been removed and no bad burns since.

  7. I use Ritek G04's exclusively. Originally the shiny topped ones and now the frosted tops (as shiny tops don't seem to be stocked anymore). All G04 discs are x4 speed and may have problems in x2 speed burners. Beware.
