  1. Salut!
I'm having some trouble with my VCD conversions. Actually, a lot of trouble. And since I couldn't solve my problem, I was wondering if you guys could recommend me another AVI to VCD convertion program. Maybe changing the conversion software I an solve that.
I'm looking for a good converter, and, like the topic says, as good as TMPGEnc, cause I've found some softwares here that don't have all those TMPGEnc options. I won't something less limitaded.
Thank you guys, be seen ya.

Any encoding program you use will be a little complicated if it is going to do a good job. There are plenty of guides here help you out. You can try Mainconcept, but TMPGEnc is not really hard to use, and the price is reasonable. One other program you might look into is VCDEasy.

  3. redwudz, Does VCDEAsy makes encoding stuff? How? I have it here, but I didn't know about that... any tips?

You said mainconcept? I'll take a look.

Another question: Can codecs cause encoding trouble? I'm experimenting some freezing when I play the VCDs I've made on my Standalone Player.

    keckrodrigues,
With the limited information that you have provided it is difficult to point you in the right direction. TMPGenC is not difficult to use and IMHO is one of the best encoders out there. Of course, there are others and their fans as well.
Maybe a few more details about what is going on or what errors you are getting or problems encountered will help others highlight a different path for you.

VCDEasy is not an encoder. It's for creating/burning/ripping (S)VCD images, assuming you already have a (S)VCD compliant mpeg.

Canopus Procoder is another encoder you can try. What kind of problems are you having with TMPEGenc? You should probably try to resolve the issues you are having and stick with it. There are lots of people here that would be willing to help.

  6. Ok guys ... sorry about the few information I gave you.
My problem is: every video I have encoded, frezees on my standalone. But it's not a problem of my player: some .mpg ready to burn I've downloaded and burned, works pretty well. No freezing at all.

I thougth it was all about the encoding program (TMPG). But I also tried that YUMPG thing, and same problem.

My doubt is: can it have something to do with codecs? My computer hardware configuration? Operational System?

I would really aprecciate if anyone could give me any tip about this hole situation. Thank you all!

Ok, what kind of disc did you make that froze on your player, and exactly what settings did you use in TMPGEnc to encode, AND what was your source video that you wanted to re-encode? Also, what burning software did you use?

try a program called dvd2svcd it is a software suite that pretty much does all the settings for you. there is an option to change the input video to use avi files. it can use tmpgenc or cinema craft encoder and it will handel all the settings for you. you can use this to make vcd or svcd. hope this helps
