Hello,
Somone sent me two CD's created on a MAC. 1 contains their JPEGS the other their MP3's (its for their picture slide show). I have WINDOWS XP and when I insert the disk, it is not recognized. Is there a CODEC I can get that will let me read these or do they have to somehow get them to a WINDOWS platform ? THNAKS

They may have been created on an older MAC. My G4 MAC writes files in IBM type format that my PC can read, as long as they are standard file types like .jpg, .mpg and probably .mp3. If the disk is MAC formated, then you need to find someone with a newer MAC that can load them onto their HD, then copy them to IBM compliant disks. The disk format is likely the problem, not the data. Not familiar with PC programs that could read MAC formating, but there may be some.

actually... it sounds like the creater did not make a HYBRID disk
if he/she only has it set to "mac only" for data i bet it wont read on your machine.
all they have to do is choose the other option Mac and Pc and it will work no problems! -
you can read mac formated drive and cd's on pc with MacOpener 2000 http://www.dataviz.com/products/macopener/
or other products just like it .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
My preference is MacDrive from MediaFour http://www.mediafour.com/. Works great with PC's from Win95 onward. Even if the files weren't named with DOT3 extensions (needed for PC filetypes), it can often do the translating automatically. And you can add to/modify the tables, works with Mac-Only CD's (both HFS and HFS-Plus) and Hybrid Mac/ISO discs.
I bet that'll take care of your needs.
I recommend this utility on every PC.

Thanks folks...problem was she was on OS9 and did not create hybrid. Tried MACOPENER 2000. OPens the disk but only some jpegs readable???
Looked at properties and ones created with oogle? wont display so,,,
I did not like MacOPener. Tendancy to hang explore so...
Thanks to all -
Actually I also tried MAC DRIVE this morning, same issues. Causes EXPLORER to hang, or only partial open.
It should not be this hard....Oh Well.
I am running WINXP and have 3 optical drives...Wonder why it doesn't work for me. -
I forgot about MacDrive. I have an old copy of it from the OS6? (Been a while) days. Have to dig it out and see if it will work with some of my old MAC disks that don't open with Windows. May be easier than redoing them in OSX just to pull off some JPG's.
