  1. Ok well i have a divx avi. And i am trying to convert it to mpg2 for dvd (i belive i am right). I already have TMPG Plus but it doesn't seem to work. I try following the guide and i get an error that says unsupported or can't be opened (this is when i click on encode). It goes to the actual screen where its supposed to stop then i get that error. Thanks for reading and helping. It is greatly appreciated.

:edit: AWWW sorry it isn't divx. Its Xvid. (found with gspot).

  3. If you get an error message when opening like file unsupported or can not open or is not supported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window (From link)

I tried doing that. It is on top of the list. Also according to gspot i have 2 xvid codecs installed. Any other ideas or converters i can use?

:edit: don't want to spam. Ok well should i try converting the Avi audio to Wav with virtual dub?

Try removing your XviD codecs and reinstalling them.

  5. ::EDIT:: ok done. still the same problem. I have a feeling its the audio file. When i make it so there is no audio file it works fine but if i do try to include it it doesn't work.

  7. Wel i removed the xvid codec and reinstalled it. I am positive now that there is somethign wrong with my wav file. My wav file gets the unsupported or can not open. Does anyone have any idea? Did i rip it wrong?

Could you load it into Gold Wave? If it does load, save it under a new file name, and see if the new file works.

It might be a silly proposal, but have you tried to play it successfuly in your WMP? If yes, then I'm afraid you need to reinstal TMMPGenc again.

  10. Uhh yes i did play the avi in wmp. Are you saying that if you play it in WMP it makes it so TMPG doesn't work with it? I also noticed playing it again in WMP now there are blurs randomly. Does that mean that the movie is messed up now?

  11. As WMP recognises your avi file is valid, except it cann't be played correctly, then the problem should be in your audio/video codecs.
According your indications, I'd say the file isn't corrupted.

  12. Ok well i uninstalled the TMPEnc and re installed it. And i tried again. There is something wrong with the wav file. When i extract it with virtual dub and try ot use it in tmpenc it says it is unsupported or cannont open. Maybe my settings are off.

What did Gspot report your original audio as being? I suspect AC3 which TMPGEnc does not support. Extract the wav file from the avi with Goldwave, just load the avi then save. Use the wav as your audio source.

Vdud does not extract AC3 to wav, it's still AC3 and it still needs to be converted. I prefer goldwave though.

    Hope that helps.
