Hi,
This is my first post and first attempted rip from DVD to mpeg and upon playback the image `jitters`. How do I correct this? I`m sure there`s a simple setting somewhere. I followed Sefy`s guide and left all the settings at default. Also, the DVD was a widescreen image. But it converted to a standard size. Could this be the cause?
I also noticed that the image is a little `blocky` (pixelated?). Is it possible to smooth this out? I downloaded the sample VCD mpeg and it`s nice and smooth. What settings do I have to keep my eye on to achieve this?
I`m still a little bit lost in this wonderful new world and any advice/tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Sounds like your field order may be wrong. Under the advance tab, choose the other order. While in advance, next to source aspect ratio, choose 16:9 525 lines ntsc or pal and for video arrange method choose full screen keep aspect ratio. If your image is blocky, then you need a higher bitrate when encoding. Encode about 5 minutes or less and check it before doing the whole movie.
I have also encoded a video that was jerky on the computer but played smooth on my pioneer dvd player.
