SONY DVD-R/+R discs on sale at STAPLES (til 12-28-2003)

STAPLES has 10-packs of SONY DVD-R and SONY DVD+R discs on sale at approximately $15.00 each per 10-pack. They come in standard full sized CD style jewel cases.

I bought one 10-pack of the DVD-R discs and they say MADE IN TAIWAN which usually makes me shudder when it comes to DVD-R MEDIA (I tend to stick to the FUJI 10-packs that say MADE IN JAPAN and are Taiyo-Yuden made discs) but I must say that so far these SONY DVD-R discs seem to be very good quality.

I've only burned 2 of them so far (one at 4.02GB and the other at 4.25GB) and both reported ZERO READ ERRORS in DVDInfoPro.

I've seen many so-called "high quality" DVD-R discs get READ ERRORS at around the 4.2GB mark so the fact that the one I burned at 4.25GB came back with ZERO READ ERRORS tells me that these discs MUST be excellent quality.

I plan on picking some more of these up on Friday or Saturday before the sale ends. Since the sale started on Sunday 12-21-2003 I assume it ends at the end of Saturday 12-28-2003

BTW these burned at 2x on my NEC ND-1300A 4x DVD-R burner using the brand new OFFICIAL 1.09 firmware.

I burned 3 more of these SONY DVD-R discs and all 3 were at a total size of 4.25GB each (I use DVD2ONE to back-up with a custom size of 4350MB and after creating an ISO IMAGE FILE with the classic version of ImgTools and then burning that makes a 4.25GB sized DVD).

Anyways all 3 again report ZERO READ ERRORS using DVDInfoPro.

So that makes 5 burns with ZERO problems.

DVDInfoPro reports that they are 2x and as I said they burned at 2x on my 4x burner but still that it a great SALE price for what appears to be a very high quality blank DVD-R disc.

I don't know what speed the DVD+R discs are rated.
